Happy 🍂 🍁🧡Halloween friends!
This month has been a full “picturesque” Autumn season- with amazing weather, phenomenal colour on display in our area, and holiday get-togethers for Thanksgiving. I hope you have taken advantage of the great weather, sunshine, and enjoyed some outdoor time this month!
Whats in the blog today:
-🎃Halloween phone photos tips 👻
-🎃Guide to creating a visually dynamic photo gallery for the season 🍂🧙♂️🍭🔮
-✉️Holiday card problem
-📂The fix you might already have
With so much colour and imagination on display these days- in costumes, decorating, desserts, and experiences- pumpkin patches, house parties, school dances, and earlier sunset times, there are some unique challenges to taking better photos this week!
*Quick tips for taking photos in the dark with your phone
*First and foremost ALWAYS give a quick clean of the back lens of your phone. That dark pocket it lives in might also be sharing space with a few hidden 🍬treats from the kids these days 🍬 ;)
Stay within 5-8 feet from the people your taking a photo of. If you are in the dark- the small flash in the phone will be strong enough to light up the smiles- no matter how dark it is!
Special effects 🔮- turning off your flash and using the pumpkin candles, string lights, or surrounding lights can be fun. You can also try to move the phone quickly (clockwise twist of the wrist) to cause blur on purpose.
*[◉¯] You can make your gallery halloween themed by having fun taking pictures of just black or orange colours 🧡- or by object, decorations 🦇💀- carved pumpkins 🎃, scarecrows, skeletons, front porch displays, cool seasonal drinks or desserts- have fun with creating a photo gallery to look back on- its not only fun to have a scavenger hunt to include your kids, its a great way to expand your own photo selections to remember your season of life. Enjoy going for a walk through the downtown of Dundas and Waterdown, and take in the village's scarecrows and community events.
🎄The holiday card problem.
I thought I was saving us time. I picked out a small tripod that magnetically holds my phone, and has a remote. But the dog keeps watching a squirrel, and 37 takes later, it’s still not working out.
I do truly love the outtakes that happen when we try this- the squinty eyes from the teen jokes and cackle laughs are the best when I catch them.
📂The Fix- most of you reading this newsletter have had a photography session with me, and you already have a saved gallery folder from our time together. I would look for a great candid image of your group, they show warmth that friends and family have come to love about you.
Go look through your gallery this week. I bet your card photo is already in there.
For anyone without recent photos to work with, I still have a few appointments left for the Merry Farms Holiday minis on Sunday, November 8th. If you want to enjoy a drive out to Niagara, I will also be at Farm on Firth Saturday, November 7th, and have a few sessions left there also. Easy 20 minute sessions at a Christmas tree farm, and a gallery of updated family photos, delivered within the next 8 business days. All within time to order your holiday cards for this year.
Send me a message or use this link to book your session.
This email has been human made-and happily so.
